about moshi moshi earth

Hi and welcome!
My name is Emmy, and I'm an herbalist, reiki practitioner, illustrator and mom hailing from Kyoto, Japan, based in Brooklyn.

moshi moshi earth is a space I’ve dreamed of creating for many years. The term “moshi moshi” is something we say in Japanese when we pick up the phone. The simple translation is a “hello?” but it’s also a fun phrase that signifies presence, tuning in, and even a little curiosity or anticipation.

I discovered the world of herbalism after struggling with an eating disorder for over a decade, and it became instrumental to my healing. My offerings include in-person and remote herbal consultations and reiki, along with educational content about herbalism and health. I’ll also be using this space to tell stories and explore all sorts of things that have entered my orbit and allowed me to reframe my experiences—whether it be the archetype of a plant, or a work of art, a story, a dream, a symbol, a word.

For me, both the material and immaterial tools have been essential in my healing. In particular, exploring things like myth, archetypes, and narrative, often help me find my place in the world. In truth, the material and immaterial are not separate; we are beings composed of many layers. But I’ve learned that the stories we integrate into our own being are a critical part of our health and evolution. To me, the power of holistic approaches like herbalism and reiki is in the way they not only support our health goals on a practical level, but also give us a window through which we can start to adjust or even reinvent these stories we carry, so we can live in better alignment with ourselves and the world around us.
